Wolves Roll to 7th Straight (Baseball RoundUp)




The streak reaches seven consecutive games for Harris-Lake Park, who defeated Pocahontas
Area/Pomeroy-Palmer, 13-2, in six innings in a non-conference baseball game
Tuesday. Nathan Kyle hurled all six innings, allowing five hits and striking
out six. The senior also dominated at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two runs
batted in. Brady Van Iperen crossed home four times as his courtesy runner.
Tanner Hiveley drove in a pair of runs on a 3-for-3 night, as the Wolves
stacked up 16 hits. HLP improves to 7-3 overall and host another
out-of-conference game Friday against West Lyon.

Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire won their third straight
game of the week, topping Sioux Central by a 5-1 final. GTRA pitching limited
the Rebels to just three hits to improve to 9-4 overall. They travel to
Alta/Aurelia on Thursday.

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn picked up a lopsided non-conference
win Tuesday, dismantling rival Clay Central-Everly, 21-8. The Hawks capitalized
on nine hits, thirteen Maverick errors, and thirteen walks. Casey Dorhout had
three hits with four RBI and scored five times in the win. He also earned the
pitching victory, surrendering four runs on three hits in two innings of work.
For CCE, Brock Briedinger tallied three base knocks, scored three runs, and
drove in another. Tyler Shuck took the loss. The Mavericks are winless through
twelve games and play West Bend-Mallard in a doubleheader Friday. HMS boasts an
8-4 record and welcomes rival South O’Brien to Hartley on Wednesday.

Emmetsburg notched its second victory of the week with a
13-1 rout of Newell-Fonda. The E-Hawks are above .500 now, with a 7-6 record
overall and return to Lakes Conference play Wednesday at Storm Lake.
