Postseason honors have been bestowed upon numerous area
athletes by the Cornbelt Conference following this summer’s baseball and
softball seasons. Harris-Lake
Park placed six players
on the all-conference baseball squads after finishing second in the league.
Junior Tanner Hiveley, who paced the Wolves at the plate with a .411 average, was
a first-team selection as a first baseman. Senior Connor Gunderson, the team
leader in win for a pitcher, made first team all-conference as a utility
player. Also on the first-team list was senior outfielder Ryan Mann and junior
utility player Colin Brons. Making second-team for HLP was team ERA leader,
junior Eli Ihnen, and senior Nathan Kyle, who hit a team-best four home runs.
Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire has four players who earned recognition.
Team batting champion Blaze Alesch, a junior, was the first-team shortstop, and
senior Mitch Girres has been selected as a utility player. Fellow senior Tyler
Dalen was one of three pitchers selected to the second-team, while junior Logan
Flaharty was one of three outfielders. Clay Central-Everly seniors Kyle Saboe
and Brock Breidinger were also on the second-team, as a third baseman and
utility player, respectively. League champions North Union
placed an impressive nine players on the all-conference teams. Harris-Lake Park head coach Jared
Rahe also received recognition, named the conference’s Coach
of the Year in his eighth season with the Wolves.
