Wolves, Indians Take Losses, Pioneers Win Again (Softball)

For the second time this season, the Graettinger-Terril Knights got the better the Harris-Lake Park Lady Wolves, winning Monday’s matchup 11-5. H-LP’s Jena Peters took the loss as she issued 13 walks, five of which were served up to G-T’s leadoff hitter Dakota Hovinga and resulted in four runs. Lydia Brandt led the Wolves offense with three hits, a RBI and a run scored. H-LP is now 5-12 on the season and 4-8 in the Cornbelt, while Graettinger-Terril improves to 8-3 on the season and 7-1 in league play. You can hear the Wolves again tonight on Q102 against Sibley-Ocheyedan beginning at around 6:45pm.

The Spirit Lake bats were shut down on the road against Hull Western Christian in Lakes Conference softball. The Indians mustered just three hits in an 11-1 loss in five innings. Spirit Lake drops to 11-8 overall and 2-6 in conference action.

Okoboji notched another win in Siouxland Conference play with a 4-2 win over West Lyon. Makenzi Anderson and Keely Bracelin went a combined 4-for-6 with three RBI, while Bracelin struck out six as the winning pitcher. The Pioneers are 8-2 in conference and 13-7 overall.

Also in the Lakes Conference, Emmetsburg continued their dominance with a 5-1 win over Storm Lake to improve to 14-2 on the year and 7-1 in conference. Madison Woodruff struck out thirteen for the win. Estherville-Lincoln Central snuck past LeMars 3-1. Other scores from Monday include Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley topping Sibley-Ocheyedan 13-1 in six innings and Ruthven-Ayrshire blew out Armstrong-Ringsted 13-1 in four innings.
