Wolves Hang on to Reach District Final, E-Hawks Stumble in Finale (Boys Postseason Basketball RoundUp)

Harris-Lake Park built a 16-point lead in the second half of Tuesday’s Class 1A District Semifinal with Newell-Fonda, only to see it nearly evaporate before the Wolves hung on for a 40-34 home win. The Mustangs used a 7-0 run in the fourth to claw back in, however, HLP answered with clutch free throws by Brady Nissen. Eli Ihnen finished with a game-high 19 points. Newell-Fonda received seven points from Dalton Anderson and ends the year at 18-5. Harris-Lake Park extends their perfect run to 22-0 and will have a chance to take down the title holders in the district final on Thursday in Emmetsburg. The Wolves will take the floor against last year’s Class 1A champs, Storm Lake St. Mary’s. The Panthers got by Algona Bishop Garrigan with a 62-49 triumph to also remain undefeated at 23-0. That game will tip off at 7pm and can be heard on Q102 and ExploreOkoboji.com.

The Warriors got eleven each from Micah Lassen and Andrew O’Donnell. Sioux Center, at 17-6, will play again Saturday in substate against perennial power Western Christian. The Wolfpack tallied a 60-47 decision over Sheldon to win the district title. That game will be played in Sioux City at the Tyson Events Center with a tip time of 8pm.
