Spirit Lake’s K.J. Veldman is Athlete of the Week

This week’s Central Bank and Insurance Athlete of the Week
is K.J. Veldman, a senior on the Spirit Lake Girls Basketball team.

She was nominated after she averaged
27.6 points as Spirit Lake beat Emmetsburg, fell to Worthington, and closed the regular season
with a home win over Spencer.  She scored 33 against Worthington.  Against Spencer, she led
the way with 27, including 18 in the third quarter when the Indians outscored
the Tigers 25-7.

Veldman talks about free throw shooting success

That was K.J., this past Saturday night, after she shot a
perfect 17-for-17 from the free throw line, and scored 25 points to lead the
Indians past Garner-Hayfield Ventura, and into the State Tournament for the
first time since 2007.

Veldman says going to State has been her goal
