The high school football season begins on August 24 throughout the state of Iowa, and for a second straight year, Spirit Lake will celebrate the past with the present. The 2nd Annual All-Class Football Reunion will accompany the season’s first game against Okoboji at Hafer Field. A half-hour prior to kickoff, previous Indian football players will be announced by class, including returning members of last year’s state runners-up. There will also be a special trophy presentation at that time. Those interested former players are encouraged to register online at www.slsportscomplex.com.
To start the day, the Spirit Lake Booster Club and the high school athletic department are hosting a Fall Sports Preview Breakfast in the parking lot east of the gym. The breakfast is a fundraiser for a new weight room at the school. KUOO’s Get Up & Go Show will also be on-hand for the festivities.
After kickoff, a post-game tailgate party, complete with a replay of the game on a big screen will be available to all fans.
