Spirit Lake Stumbles Down the Stretch, Okoboji Drops Another (Boys Basketball RoundUp)

Spirit Lake let a late three-point lead slip away over the final two minutes Tuesday night, as Storm Lake notched a season sweep of the Indians with a 53-45 Lakes Conference win in boys basketball. Paul Brown tallied 21 points, including a late three-pointer to put Spirit Lake up 44-41 before the Tornadoes outscored the Indians 12-1 down the stretch. Carsen Anderson and Pel Deng registered 14 points a piece to pace the Storm Lake. The Indians fall to 4-6 in league play and 6-10 overall, with a trip to Cherokee coming up on Friday.

Emmetsburg failed to keep up with LeMars in a key Lakes Conference showdown of two first-place teams, falling 63-52. Nick Wuebker dropped in 22 points adn Corey Schultes had thirteen. The Bulldogs had three players in double-figures, led by Austin Homan’s 21 points. Emmetsburg is now 8-2 in conference.

Okoboji fell behind early and never recovered in a 60-26 Siouxland Conference setback at Sheldon on Tuesday. The Pioneers received eight points from Dalton Syverson, while Blake Koedam dropped in 20 for the Orabs. Okoboji will travel to Central Lyon on Friday with an overall mark of 1-14 and 0-11 in the conference.

In the Cornbelt Conference, Armstrong-Ringsted defeated Graettinger-Terril 56-46. Spencer Clausen’s 20 points led the Mustangs, while Colin Leiting paced the Knights with 14.
