The Spirit Lake Indians improved to 4-0, Friday night, as
they beat Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, 42-6, in the Indians’ homecoming game.
Senior Cody Poock got the scoring started midway through the
first quarter, as he scooped up a Cardinal fumble and returned it eight yards
for a touchdown.
He followed that up with a 38-yard touchdown catch, on a
pass from Paul Brown, later in the first quarter.
Then, in the second quarter Poock scored on an 18-yard
run. The Indians led 21-6, at halftime,
and never looked back.
Poock would score on 43-yard pass from Brown in the fourth
quarter. Nick Amundson had two
interceptions on the night, one of which he returned 43 yards for a touchdown.
Bryson McCabe also scored on a 49-yard pass from Brown.
The Number 2-ranked Indians will now look forward to next
Friday’s game, on the road against top-ranked Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley, who shut
out Unity Christian, Orange
City, tonight, 54-0.
