On Friday, it was the Lakes Conference wrestling tournament and the Spencer Tigers came out on top with the Lakes championship. Emmetsburg came in 2nd, Storm Lake took 3rd by a shade over Spirit Lake Park as the Indians finished 4th. LeMars, Hull Western Christian, Estherville-Lincoln Central, and Cherokee closed out the standings. Top finishers for the Indians included Doug Miner, who took the title in the 103 lbs. class with a technical fall over Emmetsburg’s Tyler Leuer. CJ Kent finished 3rd (112), Dylan Bryce won the championship in 125 lbs. with a major decision over Quinton Vore of LeMars, Rick Maris closed at 2nd in 145 lbs., Rick Wilson won 2nd in 171 lbs., and Shae Heinrichs placed 3rd in the heavyweight division.
