A 3-0 deficit less than 20 minutes into the Class 2A boys state soccer tournament consolation game proved too much for Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji on Saturday, as they fell by a 3-2 final to finish fourth in the state. SLP-O conceded two goals to Dubuque wahlert’s Nick Nemmers in the game’s first seven minutes, then a third to Kyle Steines in the 18th minute. Junior Zubeen Azari turned the tide just before half with a run through traffic that ended with a shot in the back of the net just 30-seconds before the horn. Kade Heikens, the hero from Thursday’s quarterfinal win, netted the team’s second goal in the 61st minute. Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji ends their record setting season with a 15-6 record and their first ever appearance in the state tournament.
