The Lakes Conference began its tennis season on Tuesday night, and the Spirit Lake-Okoboji squads were able to grab early season wins over LeMars. The boys defeated the Bulldogs, 6-1, before darkness set in on the match. Brandon Stoll, Wes Bergquist, Trystan Wiedow, Andrew Ites, and Jackson Walsh picked up singles victories for SL-O. Stoll and Bergquist also combined to secured a doubles win before nightfall.
The girls, playing in LeMars, topped the Bulldogs by an 8-1 final. KJ Veldman, Hannah Coenen, Margaret Delaney, Olivia Rohlk, and Amanda Bueltel all earned wins on the singles side. In doubles competition, Veldman and Coenen, along with Delaney and her sister, Natalie Delaney, picked up wins.
