Spirit Lake survived an extra inning scare in Lakes Conference softball on Wednesday, escaping Storm Lake with a 13-11 win in nine innings. Paige Krause registered three hits, all doubles, and drove in five runs. Amanda Bueltel also had three hits, while Alli Gerking, Briana Brunsvold, and Kendra Stokke each had a pair of base knocks. Sami Ashland picked up the win in relief of Krause. The Indians are now 15-3 overall and 4-2 in league play. They host Graettinger-Terril on Thursday.
Spencer also tallied a softball win in the Lakes Conference, topping Western Christian 5-1 on Wednesday. Kelli Kramer went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, and Maddie Gould drove in two runs on two base hits. Amy McLaury struck out nine en route to the win. The Tigers go to 6-9 on the season and 2-3 in the conference. Spencer will play host to North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted this evening.
Okoboji secured yet another road win in the Siouxland Conference, toppling Sioux Center 5-2. The Pioneers improve to 4-3 in league play and 11-7 overall. Another road trip comes Thursday night when Okoboji travels to Manson NW Webster.
Also in the Siouxland, Central Lyon/George-Little Rock snuck past Sibley-Ocheyedan with a 7-6 win.
