Comments from Coach Dan Taylor:
“It was nice
to have a home meet again after a couple dual meets in a row on the road,
followed by the Conference Tournament in Storm Lake. And the team played well on our home court,
coming away with a solid 7-2 win against a competitive Storm Lake team. Our top three singles, Stoll, Ites and Wiedow,
all played very well and won convincingly.
Michael O’Brien also played well at #6 and came away with a comfortable
10-3 victory. The matches at 5&6
were much closer, and Tyler was able to pull out a close victory, while CJ
played even with his opponent after the first 3 games, but wasn’t quite able to
come back after getting into an early hole.
All the guys played well in doubles, and we were able to once again win
2 of the 3 matches. Andrew and Trystan
hung with a very good #1 team from Storm Lake, and just about pulled out a
victory. A few more first serves and I
think they would have come out on top.
The guys have done a great job winning a couple duals in a row now after
dropping the close one to Spencer last week, and we have nice momentum building
going into districts on May 9.”
