Too many turnovers in the second and third quarters proved costly for the Spirit Lake boys basketball teams as they fought for a road win in the Lakes Conference, but would drop a 61-48 game at LeMars on Friday. The Indians tallied eight turnovers compared to just one for the Bulldogs over the 16-minute stretch. Mitch Peschon dropped in 18 points, hitting three triples. Reserve Jordan Eisma’s 16-point effort paced a LeMars attack that had four players in double-figures. Spirit Lake drops back to 6-8 on the year and 4-5 in league play, with a non-conference battle with Boyden-Hull on the schedule for this evening.
An early 16-point deficit through the first quarter turned into a 31-point setback for the Okoboji Pioneers as they lost 52-21 last night to West Lyon in Siouxland Conference play. Dalton Syverson had eight points for the Pioneers, who went 3-for-21 from the outside.
The Pioneers now sit at 1-14 overall and 0-12 in conference.
