Spirit Lake, Okoboji Fall in Conference Play (Boys Basketball RoundUp)

Sophomore Paul Brown scored 20 second-half points, including five three-pointers, however, it was too little, too late as Spirit Lake dropped their regular season finale to Emmetsburg, 50-43. The Indians scored just twelve points before halftime and trailed by 15 at the break. Nick Wuebker controlled the paint with nine field goals and 19 points for the E-Hawks. Emmetsburg finishes 9-5 in Lakes Conference play and will open with Estherville-Lincoln Central in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs on Monday. Spirit Lake ends league play at 5-9 and draws MOC-Floyd Valley on February 21 in the Class 3A tournament.

In their second last game of the regular season, Okoboji traveled to MOC-Floyd Valley and dropped a 74-36 decision against the Dutch in Siouxland Conference play. Keith Oskvig registered eleven points for the Pioneers, who are now winless through 17 league games. They will host Sibley-Ocheyedan for the season finale on Friday, we’ll have that game on Q102. The Dutch with their 16-1 mark clinch a share of the conference crown.
