The Spirit
Lake High
School football team improved to 6-1, last night,
as the Indians beat Clarion-Goldfield, 46-7.
Senior linebacker Rick Maris sparked the Indians with a fumble recovery
in the end zone, for a touchdown, after the snap sailed over the head of
Cowboy’s punter Jaden Boylan. Maris then
blocked a punt, on Clarion-Goldfield’s next possession, which Spirit Lake
recovered at the Cowboys’ 39-yard line, and led to a four yard touchdown run
from quarterback Paul Brown.
Brown scored two rushing touchdowns, and also connected on a
48-yard touchdown pass to Casey Spaeth.
The Indians travel to South Central Calhoun, next Friday.
