Girls
and boys ages 10 to 14 participated in the 2013 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship,
last weekend, and eight earned the right to compete at the district level. Iowa
Great Lakes Council 5043 in Spirit Lake sponsored the local competition at Spirit Lake
High School. All
youngsters ages 10 to 14 were eligible to participate.
Creighton Morisch won the 10-year-old boys’ division. Maddie Vierkant was the winner in the 11-year-old girls’ competition, while Joe Stein took the honors in the 11-year-old boys’ competition. Anna Brown was the 12-year-old girls champion and Ben Newman won the 12-year-old boys’ bracket.
Hannah Jennings won the 13-year-old girls’ division. The 14-year-old winner was Carly Jo Hassel, and for the boys it was Billy Brown.
