Spirit Lake Joins Other Area Teams in Football Rankings

After an impressive 2-0 start to the 2010 football season, the Spirit Lake Indians have begun receiving votes in the latest Associated Press Iowa high school football polls. The Indians received four votes and are 16th in Class 2A. Twelve spots ahead at No. 4 is Hull Western Christian, who comes to Spirit Lake on Friday for the opener of district play. The Emmetsburg Ehawks are also 2-0 are have moved up a spot in the Class 1A rankings to No. 3. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn remains the seventh-rated team.

Clay Central-Everly still occupies the fourth spot in the Class A rankings after their 2-0 start, and several area teams fill out the 8-Man rankings. Defending champion Armstrong-Ringsted is No. 2, Graettinger-Terril is seventh, and North Sentral Kossuth rests in the top-15.
