Spirit Lake Goes 4-0 in Sheldon, Okoboji Posts 1-2 Mark at Ballard (Softball RoundUp)

The Spirit Lake Indians outscored their opponents 30-11 in winning four games at the Sheldon Tournament over the weekend. Cara Vale hurled two solid games on Friday, with wins of 6-2 over Sioux Center and 7-0 against Sheldon. On Saturday, Spirit Lake downed Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley, 8-3, and followed it up with a 9-5 decision against George-Little Rock. Vale finished 3-0 with a save for the weekend. Offensively, Kendra Stokke went 7-for-11 with four RBI. Alli Gerking and Amanda Bueltel also tallied four runs batted in. Paige Krause used her four hits to drive in seven runs. Defensively, the Indians committed just five errors in the four wins to improve to 9-1 overall.

Okoboji participated in the Ballard Tournament over the weekend and finished 1-2. The Pioneers fell 10-0 in five innings against BCLUW on Friday. The following day started off right, with a 10-0 win in six innings over Griswold, however, Okoboji lost their final contest 13-1 to Boone. That puts the Pioneers at 6-4.

Elsewhere, Emmetsburg earned yet another early season win, beating Sioux Central 12-4, and North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted needed just three innings to defeat Graettinger-Terril in both games of a doubleheader, taking victories by scores of 12-0 and 17-0.
