Spirit Lake falls to ELC at the 3A Girls State Tournament

The season came to a close last night for the Spirit Lake High School girls basketball team as they were beaten 55-39 by Estherville Lincoln Central in round one of the Class 3A Girls State Basketball tournament. The Indians were led by Alissa Christoffer who scored 16. KJ Veldman had 13 points, as they were both seniors and played their final game in Spirit Lake uniforms. Kendra Stokke is also a senior for the Indians. Estherville Lincoln central had 3 players in double figures led by Casey Sievert, who was 1 of 3 players in double figures for the midget she scored 18, Allie Sievert contributed 13, and Sarah Heywood chipped in 12. Spirit Lake finishes in season at 16-9.

The Midgets improve to 22 -3. They’ll face MOC-Floyd Valley Thursday at 5 p.m. in the state tournament semi finals from Wells Fargo arena in Des Moines.  The Dutch beat Mid Prairie 51-30.  One of the Midgets loss in the regular season was to MOC FV on November 23 by a score of 42-33
