The Spirit Lake Indians baseball team saw their season come to an end Saturday night when they lost to Alta Aurelia 5 – 3 in a district final in Spencer. Spirit Lake got 3 runs on 5 hits and left 7 on base. They were led by Cody Poock who was 1 – 4 with 2 RBI and Paul Brown who was 2 – 4. Alta Aurelia got 5 runs on 7 hits and were led by Jaden Holton who was 3 – 4 and by James Curbow who was 1 – 2 with 2 RBI including a 2 run homerun. Spirit Lake had a chance to tie it up in the 7th as they were down by 2 with runners on second and third with 2 outs and Cody Poock lined out to the shortstop to end the game. Spirit Lake ends the season at 23 – 7 and say goodbye to three seniors, Mitch Peschon, Tayler Acton and Tyler Dean. Alta Aurelia improves to 29 – 4 and will play Hull Western Christian in a substate Tuesday night in Spencer. HWC beat Sheldon 7 – 4.
