Spirit Lake tallied ten-plus hits for the seventh consecutive game Tuesday en route to an 8-2 victory at MOC-Floyd Valley. The Indians received two-hit games from Tyler Dean and Zach Herrig, while Taylor Acton scattered four hits and allowed just two earned runs. The defense also pitched in with a pair of double plays turned with the bases loaded. Spirit Lake, which is 9-1, returns to action when they host Spencer this evening.
Despite some sloppy defense by both teams, Emmetsburg pulled out a non-conference win at Pocahontas Tuesday, defeating the Indians 11-10. The E-Hawks, who committed five errors and allowed nine hits, took advantage of four Pocahontas errors and collected twelve hits of their own. Jake Jackson had three base knocks with a RBI and Tyler Henderson drove in four runs. Emmetsburg is an even 3-3 and will host LeMars on Wednesday.
Harris-Lake Park finally put a notch in the win column with an 11-8 defeat of non-conference foe Laurens-Marathon. Trailing by two in the sixth, the Wolves put together six hits as part of a nine-run frame. Brennan Krogman provided the big bat with three runs driven in and two scored as he went 2-for-3. Ryan Mann had an RBI-double and scored twice, while Eli Ihnen produced a two-run double with the bases packed in that game-winning inning. Connor Gunderson took the win allowing six earned runs through 5 1/3 innings. Eli Ihnen came in to close the game for the save. HLP is now 1-5 on the season.
