The girls and boys basketball teams, from Spirit Lake
High School, each have
home games, tonight, against Hinton Community.
The Lady Indians are 1-1, with a win over Harris-Lake Park
and a loss to Bishop Heelan. Coach Rick
Reinking says they’ll get a big test, tonight, from the Lady Blackhawks.
The Hinton Girls feature three players who are just under
six feet tall, along the front line, but their coach, Joel Small, says they
feature an up-tempo style.
The Girls game starts at 6:15. Tonight’s pre-game coverage on Q102 begins at
6 o’clock. The girls’ game will be
followed by the boys’ season opener.
Spirit
Lake has been practicing
for the past two weeks, although Coach Nate Loenser says success on the
football team had an impact on practice time on the basketball court.
Loenser on football related interruptions
Quarterback and Linebacker Paul Brown is one of those
football players, and Loenser is he’ll be counted on, for leadership, by this
year’s team.
That’s one of several girls and boys doubleheaders, in the
area, tonight.
Clay Central-Everly is home against Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn;
Emmetsburg hosts Pocahontas area; Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire entertains
West Bend Mallard; Okoboji pays a visity to George-Little Rock; and Spencer is
on the road against Sioux Central.
The boys team from Harris-Lake Park
welcomes Estherville-Lincoln Central; while the South O’Brien boys host Trinity
Christian.
The Harris-Lake Park Girls won last night. They beat South West United, 40-37. Clay Central-Everly topped St. Mary-Storm
Lake, 55-49, and it was Sibley-Ocheydan over South O’Brien, 47-30.
