Spirit Lake and Cornbelt Conference Golf Results

The boys golf team from Spirit Lake finished in the middle of a triangular with Storm Lake and Western Christian. Storm Lake shot a 163 to finish 11 strokes better than the Indians. The Tornadoes Paul Diehl and Luke Anderson finished as the medalist and runner-up, respectively. Matt Weeks led Spirit Lake with a 41, tying him for third place.

Spirit Lake also took on Storm Lake and Western Christian in girls golf, and notched a 183 team total for the win by 25 strokes. Western Christian finished with an incomplete scorecard. The Indians Maureen Owens was the medalist with a 43, while the Spirit Lake JV enjoyed a good night as well. They shot a season best 201.

The Cornbelt Conference hosted its annual golf championships Monday, and North Sentral Kossuth walked away with two conference titles. On the boys side, NSK shot a 352, beating West Bend-Mallard by five. Harris-Lake Park finished third with a 376 team total, Armstrong-Ringsted fourth, Graettinger-Terril fifth, Clay-Central Everly eighth and Ruthven-Ayrshire ninth. NSK’s Sawyer Doocy fired a impressive 80 for medalist honors and HLP’s Austin Jacobson was runner-up with an 83. Teammate Nathan Kyle’s 89 placed him in the top ten. Both received first-team all-conference honors.

North Sentral Kossuth also grabbed the top spot in the Cornbelt Conference girls golf meet, firing a team total of 398. Harris-Lake Park shot a 479 for fourth place, Clay Central-Everly was sixth, Armstrong-Ringsted seventh, and Ruthven-Ayrshire was eighth. Morgan Jahr of NSK was the top performer with a 95, while HLP was paced by Sam Brueggeman’s 109. Brueggeman earned second-team all-conference honors, while teammates Logan Hiveley and Mariah Gath were both third-team.
