Spencer Wrestlers Top Spirit Lake Park, 41-40

In Class 2A, the Spirit Lake Park wrestlers fell to Spencer 41-40, last night, in the regional team duals semi-finals.  The score was tied at 40 after all matches were complete, and Spencer was awarded the win based on the eighth criteria, which goes to the team with the most first points scored in each individual match. 

The Indians got pins from Brady Mart, Cody Norton, Zach Skopec, Kenten Murray, David Trucksess, and Jacob Jenness.  Doug Miner won by major decision. 

As for Spencer, the Tigers got pins from Trevor Streuli, John Christopherson, Levi Gilmore, Tanner Schaefer, Pierce Jensen, and Blaine Johnson.  Dylan Huntoon won by major decision.

The other semifinal had Boyden Hull Rock Valley defeat Sergeant Bluff Luton 31-27.

In the championship BHRV beat Spencer 42-37 to advance to state on Wednesday Feb. 13

In Class 1A, Emmetsburg is on to state as a team by defeating Central Lyon George Little Rock 56-22.  The other semi had MMC defeat Manson 51-27.  That set up the championship with Emmetsburg and Marcus Meriden Cleghorn.  The E’hawks won 59-21 and is on to state in Class 1A.

The 1A tournament is Wednesday February 13.  Emmetsburg with a record of 19-4 will wrestle Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont with a record of 23-1 at 11 AM on Mat #4
