In the baseball game, Spencer jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after 1 inning thanks to 2 Emmetsburg errors. The Tigers would never look back and win a pitching matchup 3-1 over the E’hawks. Spencer would score 3 runs on 5 hits. They were led by Blake Illg who was 2-3 with an RBI. Emmetsburg would score 1 run on 4 hits and were led by Aaron Bird who was 1-3 with an RBI and Dillon Van Oosbree who was 2-3.
It was the pitching that highlighted the evening. Spencer’s Brady Illg would get the win going 7 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 4. Emmetsburg’s Dillon Van Oosbree takes the loss going 6 innings giving up just 1 earned run on 5 hits and also 4 strikeouts.
Spencer improves to 2-2 and 1-0 in the lakes while Emmetsburg drops to 2-3 and 0-1 in the conference.
The Spencer softball team also beat Emmetsburg on Wednesday night by the score of 5-3
