The Spencer-Spirit Lake Swim team placed fourth out of nine
teams, Saturday, at the regional swim meet in Fort Dodge.
They qualified three events for next Saturday’s state meet in Marshalltown.
Sophomore Taylor Sieperda qualified in both the 100 backstroke
and 50 freestyle. She broke a school
record, in the 100 Backstroke, with a first-place time of 57.84 seconds. She took second in the 50 freestyle, with a
personal-best time of 23.91 seconds.
Sieperda was also part of the state-qualifying, school-record
setting 200 Freestyle relay team, along with teammates Emma Dau, Cassidy Fox, and
Abby Goodenow.
The team had four other events finish in the top ten. The 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay
teams both got 4th, Emma Dau took seventh in the 50 Freestyle and Cassidy
Fox placed in the 100 Breaststroke.
The top three teams were Des Moines Valley
1st, Waukee 2nd, Sioux City Metro 3rd.
