Spencer Regular Season Finale Ends in Loss (Baseball RoundUp)

In their final tune-up before the postseaon, Spencer let a
tie-game against Sergeant Bluff-Luton slip away in a 5-1 setback on Wednesday.
The Tigers allowed four runs in the fifth and had no answer. Matt Klemme had
two of Spencer’s five hits, and Zevin Carlson scored the lone run. Carlson also
took the loss on the hill, allowing four earned runs on five hits with six
strikeouts. The Tigers end the regular season winners of eight of their last
twelve games and will take a 15-13 record into the Class 3A District playoffs
on Friday. They will travel to LeMars to take on conference rival Spirit Lake,
whom they split two games with during the season. Coverage of the postseason
matchup can be heard on KUOO.
