Meeting for the third time this season, the Spirit Lake
Park-Okoboji and Spencer girls soccer teams had a bit more at stake Tuesday,
playing in the Class 2A Regional Semifinals on the Tigers home field. Spencer
took a 1-0 lead on Ashley Williamson’s goal before the half, but SLP-O tied the
game early in the second. Kim Shabino broke the tie and Sierra Beschorner added
an insurance goal. The eighth-ranked Tigers advanced with a 3-1 victory,
improving to 16-1 on the season. Spencer will play again Monday against Sioux City East, who got
by Sergeant Bluff-Luton by a 6-2 count. Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji ends the year
at 9-6.
