Spencer Boys, Spirit Lake Girls Net Golf Victories (Updated 11:00am)

Okoboji hosted its boys golf invitational over the weekend at Emerald Hills, and the Pioneers faired well, earning the top team honors with a score of 311. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn grabbed second place with a 349. The rest of the field included Emmetsburg (354) in third, Boyden-Hull (367) fourth, Sibley-Ocheyedan (380) fifth, Pocahontas (381) sixth, Harris-Lake Park (390) seventh, Graettinger-Terril (395) eighth, and Clay Central-Everly (408) ninth. Okoboji’s Matt Ohl finished was the low score of 74 to grab medalist honors, and fellow Pioneer Caden Thurgood was the runner-up at 77.

Spirit Lake hosted a girls golf triangular with Spencer and Sheldon, and the Indians grabbed another meet victory with a 181 team total. Spencer was second with a 206 and Sheldon shot a 225. Maureen Owens of Spirit Lake was the medalist at 43, and teammate Ashley Nielsen was the runner-up at 44.

Spirit Lake and Spencer boys golf teams traveled to Storm Lake for a 12-team invite. Kuemper came away with the win team title, shooting a 311, while the Tigers finished second with a 327. Jay Monahan was the meet medalist, firing a 3-over-par 75. Spirit Lake combined for a 359 total, good for eighth place. Matt Weeks’ 78 tied him for fourth-place individually.
