Solid Performance Leads to Second Place for Pioneers

Okoboji wrestling picked up another second place finish with a solid performance on Saturday at the Al DeLeon tournament at West Hancock. Okoboji finished just four team points behind winner Graettinger/Terril in the six-team tourney. Four different Pioneers finished 5-0 on the day and all four picked up championships in their weight classes. Tanner Taylor (135 lbs.), Tate Hanson (171), Dustin Schwaller (285), and Zach Jones (160) who picked up all five of his wins on pinfall, bolstered the Okoboji assault. Doug Schwaller, after sitting out Thursday with a sore neck, got back at it on Saturday going 4-1 in the 215 pound class.

“We saw some encouraging things this weekend,” said Okoboji Head Coach Justin Bouse. “We’re hoping to get healed up over the break and come back with a full line up for the final push of the season.”
