SLP Takes 4th At ELC Tourney, Pioneers Grab Two Seconds At Invite (High School Wrestling RoundUp)

Estherville-Lincoln Central hosted its annual Dual Wrestling Tournament with five other schools. The event was won by Linn Mar. Blue Earth finished in second, followed by Forest City. Spirit Lake Park took fourth with a 2-3 dual record. ELC went 1-4 for a fifth place finish ahead of Bishop Heelan. SLP earned wins over Bishop Heelan 78-5 and the Midgets 42-31. The Indians fell to Forest City by three, Linn Mar by 27 and Blue Earth by ten. ELC’s lone win was 62-6 over Bishop Heelan.

Meanwhile the Okoboji wrestling team participated in the Nighthawk Invitational in George. The Pioneers received a couple of silver medals as Tanner Taylor (152) and Zach Jones (160) both won their first two matches via falls, then lost close decisions in the finals. Taylor now has a record of 17-1 on the season, while Jones is 21-2.
