The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji girls soccer team began their 2011 season with a loss to Lakes Conference rival Spencer on Monday night. SLP-O dropped a 3-1 decision on their home turf in Lake Park. The girls will next play on Thursday at Unity Christian.
As for the boys, they lost a tight contest at Spencer, 1-0. Coach Bill Cochran-Bray says the windy conditions made the game more challenging, but that SLP-O certainly missed their chances. The Indians will try again for their first win on Thursday when Unity Christian comes to Lake Park.
