Spirit Lake Park wrestling kicked off the new season with a pair of team wins Thursday night. SLP defeated Sheldon/South O’Brien 53-30, and followed that up with a 48-30 defeat of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock. Doug Miner, Zach Skopec, Isaac Lundgren, Mark Norland, Jacob Welch, Rick Maris, and Casey Jones all won two matches on the night.
At the same meet, top-ranked Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn went 2-0 with a 40-30 win over Sheldon/South O’Brien and a 42-24 decision against Central Lyon/George-Little Rock. Marshall Ohrt, Matt Finch, Josh Treyball, Hank Voss, Wyatt Towne, and Jeremy Nagel were the two match winners for the Hawks.
Okoboji traveled to Spencer for a triangular with the Tigers and Graettinger-Terril. The Pioneers would eventually fall to both, losing 35-33 in a tight match to the Knights, and then 75-6 in a lopsided affair with Spencer. The Tigers held their own against G-T, winning 60-15.
