One singles player and a doubles duo will represent Spirit Lake-Okoboji at the Class 1A Girls State Tennis Championships. The combination of KJ Veldman and Rachael Westergard went undefeated through the doubles bracket to earn a regional title Thursday in Spencer. Veldman/Westergard defeated Denison-Schleswig’s No. 1 doubles pairing of Rachael Ingram and Cassidy Ipsen (6-3, 6-0) to cap their state qualifying performance. Joining them will be Hannah Coenen, who earned her trip to state by finishing runner-up in the singles competition. Coenen entered as the number three seed and made it to the championship match, where she lost to Bishop Heelan’s Cassie Stanek (7-6, 6-2). The girls state meet is May 31-June 1 in Waterloo.
