The girls’ tennis team of Spirit Lake-Okoboji came up one
match shy of yet another Lakes Conference dual shutout Thursday at Speier Park.

Veldman (10-2), Hannah Coenen (11-9), Rachael Westergard (10-1), Olivia Rohlk
(10-5), and Amanda Bueltel (10-3) all picked up singles victories. Spirit
Lake-Okoboji dominated the doubles, with Coenen/Westergard (10-2),
Veldman/Rohlk (10-5), and Margaret and Natalie Delaney (10-6) sweeping through
the competition.
The boys’ tennis dual between Spirit Lake-Okoboji and Storm Lake
was cut short due to lightning. Play was halted with two doubles matches yet to
finish and Storm Lake leading by a score of 4-3. Brandon
Stoll, Wes Bergquist, and Connor Rowley earned the three victories for SL-O in
the singles events. No date has been set to finish the match.
