Having not been to the state semifinals in girls tennis
since 2006, Spirit Lake-Okoboji hoped to end that drought Monday in Storm Lake.
Instead, it would be powerhouse Red Oak earning a sixth consecutive trip to Waterloo. Red
Oak blanked SL-O, 5-0, in the first round of the state meet. The loss
marks the first of the season in dual competition for Spirit Lake-Okoboji, as
they went 13-1 in 2012.
