SL-O 10-0 To Finish Regular Season, Both Girls and Boys (Tennis RoundUp)



The 2012 girls’ tennis season will finish as yet another undefeated run through the Lakes Conference for league champion Spirit Lake-Okoboji, who capped the season with an 8-1 defeat of Estherville-Lincoln Central on Monday. SL-O took five of the singles matches, with wins by Rachael Westergard (def. Corin Swalve, 10-4), Margaret Delaney (def. Kelly Zebedee, 10-1), Olivia Rohlk (def. Emily Chrestiansen, 10-0), Amanda Bueltel (def. Maddy Burns, 10-2), and Heather Sorensen (def. Mackenzie Wilson, 10-1). The doubles events were dominated by Spirit Lake-Okoboji, as Coenen/Westergard (def. Hagen/Swalve, 10-3), Rohlk/Natalie Delaney (def. Zebedee/Chrestiansen, 10-0), and Bueltel/Margaret Delaney (def. Amber Schacheres/Burns, 10-3) all picked up wins. The Midgets lone victory came from Bailey Hagen (def. Hannah Coenen, 10-6) in the No. 1 singles. SL-O went 10-0 in conference play this season.

The Spirit Lake-Okoboji boys’ team matched their female counterparts win-for-win, completing their own undefeated season with a 9-0 sweep of Estherville-Lincoln Central on Monday. The singles wins came from Brandon Stoll, Wes Bergquist, Trystan Wiedow, Connor Rowley, Andrew Ites, and Tyler Schmitz. SL-O won the three doubles matches as well, improving their overall record to 10-0 on the season.
