Silver Medals Abound for Pioneers (Track & Field RoundUp)

Silver medals were the word of the day for the Okoboji track and field teams as they competed at the Dan Lennon Indoor at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion on Tuesday. The Pioneers boys’ team registered six second-place finishes. Zach Jones was runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles (8.71) and the 400-meter dash (53.18). Dalton Syverson leaped to second place in the high jump (6’2″), while Alex Koepp did the same in the long jump (19’6.75″). Okoboji also placed second in two relays, the 4×200, which ran a time of 1:38.95, and the Sprint Medley at 3:53.40. Other top finishers included Joe Hilsabeck taking third in the 3200-meters (10:45.13), Syverson finishing sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.19), and Koepp was also seventh in the 60-meter dash (7.47).

On the girls side, Okoboji had just one top-ten finish, and that was the 4×200 relay team, coming in sixth with a time of 1:58.71.
