Following her dominating performance at the regional swimming and diving meet in Ft. Dodge last month, Taylor Sieperda of the Spencer/Spirit Lake swim team took her talents to the state meet in Marshalltown Saturday and proved she belonged. The freshman earned a tie for fourth place in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.35 seconds, and then added a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.15 seconds. To cap the day, Sieperda anchored the 200-yard freestyle relay team, which consisted of fellow Spirit Lake freshman Emma Dau, along with Spencer athletes Tiffany Martindale and Ann Magnuson. That group swam to a 22nd-place finish in 1:43.80. For the day, Sieperda earned all of the Spencer/Spirit Lake swim team’s 27.5 points, placing 21st in the overall team standings.
