Seasons End in Regional Openers for HLP, GT, RA, & CCE (Volleyball RoundUp)

Harris-Lake Park had few answers for the Lions of Central Lyon in the Class 1A Regional volleyball opener Wednesday night, as the Wolves fell in three straight sets, ending their season. The sets scores were 25-17, 25-16, and 25-10. Kelsey Ackerman paced the Lions attack with eleven kills, while Taylor Bork contributed eight kills. HLP received a team-high three kills from Noreen Morrow, Mariah Gath, and Leah Duitsman, who played her final games in a Wolves uniform. For the game, Central Lyon outhit Harris-Lake Park by 27 kills. HLP wraps up the season with an 18-16. The Lions advance to the second round, where they will face Siouxland rival George-Little Rock. The Mustangs used three sets to defeat Trinity Christian, 25-18, 25-23, and 25-13.

Graettinger-Terril opened the postseason on the road at North Iowa, but could not pull off the victory, dropping a three-set match, 25-17, 25-15, and 25-21. The Knights were 5-22 this fall. North Iowa moves on to play Bishop Garrigan after their sweep over CWL, 25-9, 25-8, and 25-11.

Elsewhere, Ruthven-Ayshire saw their season come to a close at West Bend-Mallard, dropping three consecutive games, 25-6, 25-6, and 25-15. The Raiders ended the season at 2-18. The Wolverines next challenge will be against Laurens-Marathon, who earned an opening round win over Clay Central-Everly in four sets, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20, and 25-19. The Mavericks went 6-15 overall.

Elsewhere in Class 1A, fourth-ranked Boyden-Hull had no trouble with Spalding Catholic, 25-13, 25-10, and 25-10.
