S-O, HMS Split Hoops Doubleheader (Basketball RoundUp)

Non-conference rivals Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn and Sibley-Ocheyedan split a weekend basketball doubleheader in Hartley on Saturday. The Generals led from start to finish in a 50-37 victory in the boys matchup, which Hawks coach Mike Ewen says was quite physical. Brett Doeden paced Sibley-Ocheyedan with ten points, as the Generals improve to 8-8 on the season. HMS received eight points from Joe Zeutenhorst and fall to 8-9 overall.

In the girls game, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s Onica Jacobs used 15 points to pave the way to a close 43-41 decision. Holli Mohni also pitched in with eleven, improving the Hawks record to 6-11. The Generals had two players reach double-digits, with Alyssa Hibbing scoring 14 points and Bridget Doeden ten. S-O is now 2-15 overall.

In the Cornbelt Conference, Graettinger-Terril defeated WCLT 72-62. Four Knights made it into double-figures, led by Colin Leiting’s 23 points and Beau Craig’s 19 points.G-T is 6-10 this year and 3-4 in the league. In the girls game, WCLT took a 52-30 decision over G-T.
