The I-Club Banquet made its traditional stop at the Roof Gardens in Arnolds Park on Wednesday night, providing fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes an opportunity to talk face-to-face with the coaches leading their beloved teams.
This year’s event had a slightly different feel to it, with the newly retired Norm Parker part of the traveling tour. Parker stepped down as defensive coordinator of the football team after twelve seasons in Iowa City.
Fran McCaffery’s Iowa basketball team made others in the Big Ten and around the country stand up and take notice of the Hawkeyes last winter. The second-year coach is truly optimistic about his team’s potential in 2012-2013.
Always a power in the Big Ten and nationally, the Iowa wrestling program continues to flourish under the guidance of Tom Brands. However, the head coach, a native of Sheldon, knows it will take a program-wide effort to return the Hawkeyes to the top of the list in collegiate wrestling.
