Registration now open for area basketball, wrestling camps

Former NCAA All-American at Iowa State, Lyndsey (Medders) Fennelly is bringing her Skills Camp to Spirit Lake in August. Fennelly, who played in the WNBA, will host a two-day camp in the Spirit Lake Middle School gymnasium on August 14-15. The camp is limited to 50 players at $65 each, with the registration deadline set for August 7. Day 1 of the camp will run from 9am-4pm, with lunch provided, and Day 2 is one session from 9am-noon. To register, contact John Brown at Central Bank by calling 336-4100 or emailing jcbrown@centralbankonline.com.

Wrestlers can receive upper level instruction later this week at the Estherville Wrestling Clinic, being conducted on July 26-27 at the ELC Middle School gymnasium and wrestling room. On Thursday, the clinic will be led by Iowa Central head coach Luke Moffitt, who has coached 14 individual national champions and has led five teams to national titles. As a wrestler, Moffitt won a state title in a Midgets singlet, a Big Ten title with Iowa, and a national championship for Iowa Central. On Friday, Paul Reedy, coach of the NAIA National Champions from Grand View University in Des Moines, will conduct the camp. Reedy, a native of Emmetsburg where he won several state titles, has coached two national championship teams at Wartburg. The camp will be split by grades, with 6th-12th grades going from 1pm-3pm, and again from 6pm-8pm. In the middle, K-5th graders can receive instruction from 3:30pm-5pm. The camp fee is $40 and a registration form can be found here.
