Taylor Poppema turned a dozen steals into thirteen points, completing a double-double and leading the Okoboji girls basketball team to a 42-19 thrashing of Trinity Christian last night. The Pioneers led by just one at the half, but outscored Trinity Christian 27-5 in the second half. Paisley Jones finished with nine points and Skylar Hanson had eight points. The 3-4 Pioneers will take on Central Lyon this Thursday in Milford, which can be heard live on Q102.
Behind a season-high 21 points from Anna Brandt, the Harris-Lake Park girls basketball team earned a 43-29 victory in a non-conference border battle with Mountain Lake Christian (MN). Brandt would hit ten field goals in the contest, equaling the total of made buckets from the rest of the Lady Wolves. Lydia Brandt and Noreen Morrow both had eight points. Harris-Lake Park will host Clay Central-Everly tonight in Cornbelt Conference showdown on Q102.
Also last night, the sixth-ranked girls team from North Sentral Kossuth took down Emmetsburg 49-26 in an out-of-conference battle.
