Okoboji’s boys track and field team also participated in a seven-team invite at Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley last night. The Pioneers tallied 123 team points, edging West Lyon by a point to take the overall team title. Zach Jones returned from Des Moines to win the 110m and 400m hurdles, Brian Dubois took first in the high jump, Alex Koepp was tops in the long jump, and Okoboji won gold in the shuttle hurdle and 4x400m relays.
The girls track and field squad of Spirit Lake Park finished third overall at the Spencer Invite. The hometown Tigers were first with 137 team points, followed by Algona at 111, SLP at 110, and Estherville-Lincoln Central was fourth with 100. The Indians received first-place efforts from Briana Brunsvold in the 3000m run (11:41.68) and the 4x200m relay team of Carter Hassel, Lindsey Arneson, Kendra Stokke, and Miranda Brueggeman (1:54.74). SLP also notched four seconds and three thirds.
