Okoboji finished its home contest sandwiched between Estherville-Lincoln Central and the victorious Algona on Tuesday night. The Pioneers came away with a 71-0 team win over ELC while Algona defeated the hosts 35-25 in the Pioneers’ first meet of 2010.
Algona gave Okoboji some trouble, taking eight of the 14 decisions for the 10-point victory. #3 heavyweight Dustin Schwaller picked up the pin in 1:53 over Brandon Keller but that would be the only Pioneer fall over Algona. In the 215 lbs. matchup, Doug Schwaller lost a tough grinder to #5 Logan Johnson by an 8-6 decision. Taylor Cody (125), Tanner Taylor (135/140), Zach Jones (160), and Shane Vanderpool (189) all picked up pinfalls in their respective weight classes over Estherville Lincoln-Central. Okoboji is back to the mat on Thursday, taking on Central Lyon/George-Little Rock and host Boyden-Hull Rock Valley.
