Despite numerous opportunities to tie the game up or take the lead throughout the second half, the Okoboji girls basketball team trailed from start to finish in a 46-39 setback at Boyden-Hull in Siouxland Conference play Thursday. The Pioneers scored just two points in the opening quarter, and had a chance to cut the deficit to four with a minute to play, but a missed layup led to free throws and the win for the Comets. Skylar Hansen’s eleven points was tops for Okoboji, with Taylor Poppema contributing nine. It’s a short turnaround for the Pioneers, as they travel to Sibley-Ocheyedan on Friday for another conference battle. That game can be heard live on Q102.
