BOYS
Saturday kicked off the second half of the high school basketball season and the Okoboji Pioneers, looking for their first victory of the conference year, would have a tall task having to do it against a pair of 6’9″ towers. Jordan Dykstra and Marcus Heemstra are both headed to South Dakota State next season and both came in averaging more than 20 points per game for the defending state champion and #1 ranked Rock Valley Rockets. But despite all of that, the outsized, outmatched Pioneers played a well-executed ballgame, eventually falling 67-38 to the top team in 1A. The Pioneers (0-7, Siouxland Conference) host Boyden-Hull on Tuesday.
