Pioneers Notch Season’s First Win, Beat Rival Wolves (Baseball RoundUp)

In a matchup of two county rivals seeking their first wins of the season, it would be Okoboji earning the W over Harris-Lake Park on the baseball field Tuesday in Milford by a decisive 7-0 margin. Zach Jones threw seven innings of three hit ball and struck out nine Wolves batters to secure the win. The Pioneer offense was led by senior Michael Peterson, who reached safely in three plate appearances and scored twice. Brian Dubois also touched home twice, while Ben DeMuth recorded a pair of runs batted in. The loss falls on Jake Ihnen of HLP, who surrendered seven runs on eight hits in four-plus innings. Eli Ihnen, Nathan Kyle, and Tanner Hively each had a hit in the game.

Harris-Lake Park is now 0-2 this season with Sioux Central coming to town Wednesday. The Pioneers put their 1-2 mark on the line when they host Sheldon in a Siouxland Conference showdown this evening.

Elsewhere in baseball, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley topped Sibley-Ocheyedan in a high-scoring affair, 17-13, and George-Little Rock defeated Sheldon, 4-2.
